Easy Stovetop Mac & Cheese

Easy Stovetop Mac & Cheese

This is one of those easy recipes I make when I need something quick, comforting, and toddler-approved! No oven, no overly complicated steps… just creamy, cheesy mac and cheese made right on the stovetop.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry small pasta shells
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Method

  1. Add the dry pasta shells and 3 cups of water to a pot. Bring to a boil and cook until the pasta is tender and most of the water has cooked away.
  2. Reduce the heat and add the butter and heavy cream. Stir until the butter is melted and everything is combined.
  3. Add the salt, black pepper, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Stir well.
  4. Add the shredded sharp cheese and mozzarella a little at a time, stirring until the cheese is completely melted and creamy.
  5. Give it a taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For the creamiest mac and cheese, shred your cheese yourself and add it gradually while stirring. And don’t let that pasta water completely disappear before the pasta is tender, you want a little moisture left to help create that creamy sauce.
