Beef and Broccoli

A simple homemade takeout favorite is so easy to put together and made in just 30 minutes! Perfect for busy weeknights and a family favorite. 

Beef and Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp ginger minced, or ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • For the Sauce:
  • 3/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp seasame oil
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • In a bowl, add sliced steak, one tbsp corn starch, 1 tbsp oil, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tbsp garlic, 1 tsp onion powder. Mix all together and let rest for 10 minutes. 
  • Add 1 tbsp of oil to a hot pan, medium-high heat. Cook the beef in a single layer for about 1-2 minutes per side, until browned. Once seared and cooked, remove from skillet. 
  • To the same pan, add in soy sauce, broth, ginger, brown sugar, corn starch, oyster sauce, sesame oil and whisk together. Let simmer until slightly thickened. 
  • Add slightly steamed broccoli to the sauce and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  • Mix in cooked steak and coat the beef and broccoli. 
  • Spoon over rice and top with sesame seeds.
