- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and egg. Mix until combined, then form into 10 equal-sized oval patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the hamburger steaks for 4–5 minutes per side until nicely browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Lower the heat to medium. Melt the butter, then add the sliced onions. Cook for 8–10 minutes until softened and caramelized. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir continuously for 1 minute to cook out the raw flour taste.
- Slowly whisk in the beef broth until smooth. Add the onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and salt to taste. Simmer for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.
- Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spoon the gravy over the top, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes until the patties are cooked through and tender.
