Baked Mac and Cheese Recipe

Now baked mac and cheese has to be the ULTIMATE comfort meal in my opinion. The combination of melted cheese and pasta is the perfect combination for a delicious creation.

One thing I have noticed about macaroni and cheese is that everyone is very opinionated about how they make it, but there is no right or wrong way to do this! Taste is subjective so you can follow my steps below or adjust a few items according to your liking. You can grate your own cheese, or you can use pre-shredded cheese as well.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz elbow pasta
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 32oz - 40oz of mixed cheddar cheese
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • fresh parsley and paprika to sprinkle on the top (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add in pasta until al dente according to the packaging.
  3. Drain pasta and drizzle with a little oil to keep from sticking (optional)
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine drained pasta with melted butter, eggs, seasonings, sour cream, heavy cream, and cheese.
  5. Add mixture to a greasing baking dish in an even layer.
  6. Sprinkle a light mixture of paprika and parsley on the top.
  7. Bake in the oven uncovered for 45 minutes or until golden brown crust and cooked all the way through.

Notes

For this recipe I like to use Sargento Pre-Shredded Cheese. Two bags of Triple Cheddar and Two bags of Mild Cheddar.
